Rheological Consulting Services Pty Ltd (RCS) conducts rheological characterisation testwork and provides expertise and advice on the processing of particulate slurries in a range of operational environments. Particular areas of expertise are rheological characterization of non-Newtonian thickened mineral tailings and pastes, colloid and surface chemistry and the evaluation of material dewaterability.

RCS has conducted studies for numerous companies and consultant engineers worldwide in the minerals industry, energy, petrochemical, pharmaceutical and food industries, evaluating and characterising process and waste streams for increased process control, cost savings and environmental benefit.

RCS understands the complexity of slurry rheology and the difficulty in obtaining material specific data for design, operation and optimisation. To that end, we have utilised our strong technical and theoretical background to develop novel testing equipment and methodologies. We are therefore an industry leader in the area of rheological characterisation of slurries and pastes.

RCS is based in the Particulate Fluids Processing Centre at The University of Melbourne. The principals of the company are Professor David Boger, Professor Peter Scales and Dr Fiona Sofra. We consider it a testament to our quality of service and worth of delivered results that we are the preferred experts in rheology and material characterisation for a large number of Australian and international companies.
